Affiliated Network for Social Accountability in East Asia and the Pacific (ANSA-EAP) Foundation, Inc. hosts and implements the Checkmyschool initiative with support from the Open Society Foundation. It is a non-stock, non-profit corporation registered under the Philippine law.
The ANSA-EAP promotes social accountability in the region by providing networking and learning facilities. By social accountability, it refers to the process of constructive engagement between citizens and government for the monitoring of the use of public resources. It aims to improve the delivery of public services, promote community welfare and protect people’s rights.
Project Manager, Checkmyschool (CMS)
Redempto S. Parafina, or Dondon, is the Executive Director of the Affiliated Network for Social Accountability in East Asia and the Pacific (ANSA-EAP) Foundation, Inc. As an international development practitioner, he has recognized track record in civil society networking, capacity building and advancing innovations in citizen participation in governance. With over fourteen years of experience, he is consulted on the technical application of social accountability in various fields and sectors, such as education, health, public procurement, ICT, youth/children, among others. His work has spanned the Philippines and various East Asian countries. He is also a Senior Associate at the Ateneo de Manila University’s School of Government, where he has spearheaded various projects. He is a graduate student of philosophy, a boy scout and a dragonboat paddler.

Hannah Althea Estipona is currently pursuing a Master of Science degree major in Social Development at the Ateneo de Manila University. She graduated from Miriam College in 2010 with a degree in International Studies major Development Studies and minor in Gender Studies.
Networking Coordinator, Checkmyschool (CMS)
James Nigel C. Panganiban is the Networking Coordinator of CMS. He graduated from the University of the Philippines Diliman in 2014 with a degree in BA Political Science. He likes discussing topics in international relations and has a keen interest in the story of conflicts in the 20th century ranging from the Second World War to the Vietnam War.
Research Associate, Checkmyschool (CMS)
Wilson Villones is currently the Research Associate of the Affiliated Network for Social Accountability in East Asia and the Pacific Foundation. While earning his MA degree in Philosophy in the University of the Philippines Diliman, he also has been part of a number of local social accountability projects undertaken by ANSA-EAP Foundation by researching, documenting and facilitating social accountability activities and events. Before working as a research associate for the NGO, Will had exceptional engagement on academic policy research project based at the Office of International Linkages Diliman under the Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs of the University of the Philippines Diliman. Prior to his research career, he also had been in a mass media programme in Gifu Prefecture and Tokyo, Japan and had been part of a multinational environmental project, working with ASEAN young leaders and American environmentalists in Cambodia. Mr. Villones earned his bachelor’s degree (magna cum laude) from the University of the Philippines-Diliman.
Sustainability Coordinator, Checkmyschool (CMS)
Vincent Romero graduated with a degree in Political Science from the University of the Philippines Diliman in 2015. His research interests as an undergraduate were focused on political participation and social movements, later shifted into policy research with focus on health. Prior to becoming a project associate for Checkmyschool, he served as a research consultant for ANSA-EAP working on a health governance case study commissioned by WHO.Outside of work, he spends his time between books, movies, comics, art, and other similar manners of geekdom. As a music lover, he collects headphones and is rarely seen without a pair.

Brenda is a recent graduate of Development Studies in Miriam College. As a student leader, she spent her days advocating for student’s rights and good governance. On the side, Brenda does freelance research and familiarises herself with youth and governance studies. She is currently a student at the Confucius Institute at the Ateneo de Manila University and plans to take up further studies on public administration.

For its fifth cycle of operations, CMS has nine partner organizations covering 1,013 schools in 36 areas located across the Philippines. These partner organizations include academic institutions, health institutions, religious organizations and people’s organizations. Chapters in Mindanao cover 18 areas covering 607 schools. Visayas chapters cover 10 areas and 244 schools. Luzon chapters cover 8 areas and 162 schools.
